Clemson football expected to have Trever Lawrence back vs. Florida State
The Clemson Tigers expect to get Trevor Lawrence recovered from COVID-19 in time for the game vs. Florida State.
Trevor Lawrence isn’t expected to miss any additional games beyond the Notre Dame game on Saturday.
College coaches around the country can only dream of having the kind of depth Dabo Swinney has with the No. 1 Clemson Tigers. With Lawrence sidelined last week against Boston College due to the coronavirus, true freshman signal-caller DJ Uiagalelei threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns in the comeback win over Boston College.
While Uiagalelei will be under center to take on Notre Dame this weekend, it’s expected that Clemson will have Lawrence back on the field when the Tigers take on Florida State on Nov. 21. As relayed by The Athletic’s Grace Raynor, Lawrence is expected to return to the practice field after this weekend and prepare to start for the game vs. the Seminoles.
Trevor Lawrence is expected to return to practice after the Notre Dame game
While not having Lawrence available to take on Notre Dame in the massive ACC tilt is a bummer for Tigers fans, Uiagalelei showed plenty of potential in the victory last weekend against Boston College. At the same time, the last thing Clemson wants to do is rush Lawrence back and put the rest of the team in danger of potentially picking up the coronavirus.
Fortunately for the Tigers and Swinney, the team is off next weekend due to a bye, giving Lawrence more than two weeks to get himself fully healthy and back on the practice field to prepare for the showdown against the Seminoles.
Before testing positive, Lawrence showed why he’s expected to be taken No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft, throwing for 1,833 yards and 17 touchdowns in the first six games. If Clemson wants a shot of playing for another national championship, they’ll need Lawrence at full health to see that goal come to fruition.
