Matt LaFleur claiming the Green Bay Packers were all on the same page about not adding a wide receiver before the trade deadline is downright infuriating.
Once again, Green Bay Packers fans were beyond furious with general manager Brian Gutekunst, this time after the team failed to bring in a new wide receiver ahead of the trade deadline. There were rumblings that Houston Texans wideout Will Fuller could be making his way to Lambeau Field, but nothing ever got done.
According to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, however, the team never made a serious push to land a new receiver for Aaron Rodgers.
The Packers have done absolutely nothing to help Aaron Rodgers win another Super Bowl
On top of that, LaFleur said the Packers were “all on the same page” when it came to whether or not they needed to bring in another receiver. He’s got to be kidding, right? In the loss last week to the Vikings, it was made crystal clear just how badly Rodgers needed another weapon.
Davante Adams was a beast again with his three touchdowns, but he can’t carry the unit on his back all by himself. Rodgers was visibly upset with the play of Equanimeous St. Brown last Sunday, as the young wideout had a silly drop and couldn’t come down with a great ball from Rodgers in the end zone.
Green Bay is expected to welcome back Allen Lazard this week from injury, but bringing in a guy like Fuller could have really helped take this offense over the top. In fact, it probably would have sent some chills down the spines of several folks over in Seattle.
Instead, just like the NFL Draft, the Packers failed to improve the wide receivers room. Rodgers has to be frustrated with what’s going on and no one can blame him for that.
