Texas A&M football pauses activities due to COVID safety measures

Texas A&M football paused practice on Monday for COVID precautionary measures.
The Texas A&M football team put a halt on practice Monday for COVID safety concerns.
Texas A&M Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher released a statement through the team’s official Twitter account. Fisher stated that practice was stopped because of two positive tests so the university can conduct its contact tracing protocols. As of now, one player and one student worker tested positive for the virus after the Aggies’ road trip to face the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Could Texas A&M vs. Tennessee be postponed this weekend?
Thus far, we know one SEC game will be postponed in Week 11. That is the Mississippi State Bulldogs’ game vs. the No. 24 Auburn Tigers. Due to an outbreak within the Mississippi State program, this game has been tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 12. The other game to keep an eye on is the LSU Tigers’ game vs. the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide due to an LSU outbreak.
Though two positive tests will not be enough to postpone the No. 5 Aggies’ road date vs. the Tennessee Volunteers, it will be important to see what contact tracing and other coronavirus protocols have in store for us. Texas A&M has a great opportunity to go 9-1 this season and potentially make it into the College Football Playoff for the first time as an at-large team at No. 4.
We will need to keep an eye on what follows within the Texas A&M program this week.
