The Steelers need to keep up with the Chiefs. Although this would be a luxury to the top-ranked defense in sacks and turnovers, the Steelers adding Watt does make sense on a bargain price.

Pittsburgh’s pass rush already features the young Watt, T.J., plus talent on both sides in Cameron Heyward and Bud Dupree. Dupree could be leaving this offseason as another quality year attacking the quarterback will only knock up his price tag on the open market. Seeing this leaves a gaping hole on one side that Pittsburgh will need to fill if they want to even compete for the AFC North crown.

The Steelers are home to two Watt brothers, why not make it a third? If Ben Roethlisberger elects to stay another season, that will be his farewell tour. Pittsburgh is talented enough to be a contender for the Lombardi Trophy another three seasons, but teams that can pressure quarterbacks are ones that go far in the playoffs. That might be all Watt is good for now.

Kevin Colbert should at least pick up the phone and ask for the price.
