The Heat’s run to the NBA Finals showcased just how deadly Jimmy Butler and company can be when they get hot from the perimeter, but the Los Angeles Lakers showed that outside of Bam Adebayo, Miami is a bit lacking in size. At times, it seemed that the offense devolved into either chucking up the first available three or trying to force the ball into the low post. The Heat need a bigger body that can score from anywhere on the court in order to give their offense a completely new dimension, and Gallinari fits the bill.

While no one is expected Gallinari to get 15 rebounds per game or compete for Defensive Player of the Year, he could create mismatch problems on opposing bigs given his shooting and ability to handle the ball on the perimeter. The Heat already tried to trade for Gallinari once, albeit unsuccessfully, in the middle of the 2019-20 season. Clearly enamored with the potential Gallinari could have in this offense, Miami might try to bring in the sweet-shooting Italian this offseason.
