Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving will obviously be the main straws that stir the drink, but the Nets have quietly assembled one of the deepest rosters in the league given the presence of Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, and DeAndre Jordan. If there is a hole on this roster, it’s the lack of size, as Jordan and Jarrett Allen are the only two big men that will consistently get rebounds and challenge opposing bigs inside. Gallinari could give them some extra size while fitting into Steve Nash’s promise of a high-octane, mid-2000s Phoenix Suns-esque offense.

Kenny Atkinson wanted the Nets to play fast and small while shooting as many threes as possible, and Nash looks primed and ready to take that up to 11 given the number of former Suns on his coaching staff. While Gallinari might not have the same defensive skill that someone like Shawn Marion had on those great Suns teams, the need for a stretch big man that can drain it from deep is a necessity in this offense. With Durant likely handling the ball frequently, Gallinari might be a perfect tertiary gunner.
