The Seahawks are falling in the NFC playoff picture after yet another loss in Week 10.

The NFC standings feature eight teams over .500 in a year when the playoff format has opened up a spot for a seventh team. One team that seemed like a lock early on was the Seattle Seahawks. Russell Wilson’s club got off to a 5-0 start, only to sit at 6-3 following a Week 10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

The loss puts the Seahawks just inside the playoffs as the No. 7 overall seed. The 5-4 Chicago Bears are in eighth heading into a Monday night game against the Minnesota Vikings.

A tight NFC playoff race

Right above the Seahawks sits the Rams as the No. 6 seed. That is thanks to Los Angeles’ 23-16 win over Seattle in Week 10 and the NFC West representation doesn’t stop there. The Arizona Cardinals also have a 6-3 record and own the No. 3 seed after a Hail Mary win over the Buffalo Bills. The West is a division to watch as all three top teams have identical records.

The NFC South has two teams in the race with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the No. 5 spot and the New Orleans Saints at No. 2. The Saints absolutely embarrassed the Bucs last Sunday, but both teams have seven wins at this point. There is no reason why Tampa can’t jump into one of the top spots in the conference over the final seven weeks of the season.

Atop the NFC sits the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers and his team kept it interesting against the Jacksonville Jaguars and ultimately took home the win Sunday. The Packers are 7-2 and own a tiebreaker over the Saints thanks to a head-to-head victory.

We wrap up with the sad state of the NFC East. The Philadelphia Eagles somehow lead the division at 3-5-1 and that is good enough to hold the No. 4 seed. That division is going to get that No. 4 seed and right now the race is still open after the New York Giants improved to 3-7 with a win over the Eagles. Washington and Dallas are both 2-7 and still in contention as well, if you can believe that.
