The early NFL game might have one thing to watch for under center 

One look at Sunday’s game between Washington and Detroit won’t excite many on paper. Another look deeper into the picture could lead to one of the greatest moments sports fans will see in 2020. Either way, Washington (2-6) will travel north to take on the likes of a struggling Lions (3-6) roster.

After 728 days since suffering a potential career-ending leg injury, Alex Smith will make his first start of the season for Washington. The 36-year-old missed the entire 2019 season to undergo rehab and was kept by Ron Rivera’s staff as the veteran on call. In minimal play time this season, Smith has throw for 362 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

Outside of Smith well-earned return to a starting role, Washington’s offense is putridly putting up minimal points. Still, the team has an emerging star in Terry McLaurin joining the staff as the go-to target. Only in his second season, the Ohio State product continues to impress, hauling in 50
catches for 692 yards and three touchdowns.

Can Detroit rebound and salvage their season? After an embarrassing loss to the Vikings on Sunday, another defeat has Matt Patrica’s squad waving the white flag in the NFC North. Matthew Stafford will be in for a long day as we, hoping to capitalize on offense without star pass-catcher Kenny Golladay and perhaps limited play from tight end TJ Hockenson.
