Packers: Davante Adams bizarre injury update doesn’t inspire much confidence
By Mark Powell
Will Davante Adams be available for the Packers in Week 11?
Adams is arguably playing the best football of his career in 2020, carrying the Packers receiving core with him. Sadly, he’s also dealt with a staggering number of injuries this season, or else is eye-popping numbers would be even more impressive.
The 27-year-old has 61 catches for 741 yards despite missing what amounts to a full month of action. Matt LaFleur is leaning more heavily on the Packers air attack as of late due to the injuries in the run game, which include ailments to Jamaal Williams, AJ Dillon and of course Aaron Jones.
So, has Adams fully recovered from his injury? The answer isn’t so simple
“It’s definitely not a 9-1-1, but it’s something we had to pay attention to for sure,” Adams said of his ankle injury.
Adams injury is worth monitoring and then some for the Packers
The star wideout wouldn’t go as far as to promise that he’ll play against the Colts on Sunday, but he stated “the idea” is that he would. Whatever that means, it’s incredibly ominous, and not something Green Bay wants to hear going into a matchup against one of the more capable defenses in all of football.
Other than Adams, the Packers have relied on the likes of Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard at times this year, but they lack a true No. 2 receiver next to Adams. That, of course, would’ve been solved had they been able to trade for Texans top target Will Fuller, but such talks fell through just before the trade deadline.
For now, the Packers will have to hope Adams’ vague take doesn’t hold true.
