Tulsa miraculously forces OT vs Tulane on Hail Mary from third string QB (Video)
Tulsa took Thursday’s game against Tulane to overtime after a miraculous Hail Mary from a reserve quarterback.
The top two quarterbacks on the Tulsa depth chart weren’t getting it done Thursday night against Tulane. Enter Davis Brin, the third-stringer, who clearly has the ability to rally the offense.
He came in and threw for two touchdowns, and ran for another, in the fourth quarter after Tulsa was shut out for the first three quarters of the game. But it was his third touchdown of the quarter that was the real miracle. His team was down to the final play of the game and a heroic heave ended up sending the game to overtime.
Tulsa feels the Davis Brin magic
This was an absolute dime and also an amazing catch by JuanCarlos Santana. Brin had thrown one pass all season before coming in and saving the day. Clearly, the coaching staff believed in him enough and he proved them smart.
Tulsa entered the fourth quarter trailing 14-0. Brin provided the spark and the Hail Mary made it 21-21. The two teams exchanged field goals in the first set of overtime and a pick-six ended up clinching the game for Tulsa.
This keeps the team undefeated in conference play and in a true fight with Cincinnati for the American Athletic Conference crown.
Brin entered the game at a time when the two quarterbacks ahead of him combined for 77 yards. He finished the night with 266 yards and three total touchdowns. Most of this came in the fourth quarter alone.
This is a bizarre college football season and a Hail Mary from a third-string quarterback to force overtime is nothing out of the ordinary. To top it all off, Tulsa took home the victory with an equally dramatic finish in overtime.
