Trevor Lawrence reaction to Clemson-Florida State postponement
By Mike Luciano
Trevor Lawrence was stunned that Clemson-Florida State was postponed.
The ACC postponed Saturday’s game between Clemson and Florida State and left Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence very disappointed. Considering how Clemson is eager to avenge their loss to Notre Dame, this has to sting Dabo Swinney’s Tigers.
Lawrence vented about how frustrating the sudden postponement was, claiming that he and the rest of his teammates were “ready to play.” Barring any extra health scares, Clemson’s next game will be Nov. 28 against Pitt, while Florida State will take on Virginia on the same day.
The postponement was met with frustration on both sides
In a vaguely worded statement by the ACC, the conference stated that medical staffs from both teams couldn’t “mutually agree on moving forward” with the game. Yahoo’s Pete Thamel reports Florida State was worried about a potential spread after a Clemson offensive lineman who tested positive for COVID-19 traveled with the team.
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell joined Lawrence in his disappointment with the decision, stating that the Seminoles expected to play this game today, and their chance for a monumental upset was ruined.
While there is no such thing as being too careful or too cautious during this pandemic, the lack of communication between the schools and the conference is staggering. Even if canceling the game was the right move from a health perspective was the right move, not officially doing so until the day the game was supposed to start has to be crushing for players on both teams.
