The Washington Football Team pulled a fast one on the Dallas Cowboys in the form of a J.D. McKissic trick play.

The first act of Thanksgiving Day football was far from enticing, but at least there was something on the line in the mid-afternoon time slot between the Washington Football Team and the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams have a 3-7 record on the season, but a win could propel either squad into first-place in the dreadful NFC East. To win pivotal games like this, teams have to pull out all the stops to try and trick the opposition. Well, that’s exactly what the Football Team did.

During the second quarter, Washington found themselves 10-yards out of Dallas’ end zone down 10-7. On second down and five, quarterback Alex Smith was discretely hiked the ball by center Chase Roullier, who then placed the ball under running back J.D. McKissic. From there, McKissic ran to the left and picked up a first-down on a six-yard carry!

A lot happened, so we’ll show you the actual play and the behind the scenes clip of how Washington pulled it off.

Give Washington an A for creativity

Come on, you have to give Washington credit for that one. They completely fooled Dallas’ defense and picked up the pivotal first-down. Let’s not forget that their head coach is Ron Rivera, aka “Riverboat Ron.” If there’s a chance to go against the grain and confuse the opposition, you know Rivera’s going to take it!

While the play did leave the Cowboys in a state of befuddlement, Washington was unable to reach the end zone. However, they did manage to tie the game at 10 points apiece, thanks to a 23-yard field goal by kicker Dustin Hopkins.

Sure, the play didn’t yield Washington seven points, they did manage to take the lead later on in the first half after Smith hit tight end Logan Thomas in the end zone to give the Football Team a 17-13 lead heading into halftime.
