Taysom Hill throws first touchdown pass as a starter (Video)

Taysom Hill finally threw a touchdown pass for the New Orleans Saints.
Taysom Hill was a controversial choice to start for the New Orleans Saints after Drew Brees’ rib injuries. Yet he’s managed to silence the doubters, to a degree, by leading the Saints to two straight wins. Those who still wanted to see more from Hill as a passer were also silenced by his play against the Atlanta Falcons.
Hill finally managed to find the end zone through the air, as the BYU Swiss Army knife linked up with Tre’Quan Smith to give the Saints an early lead over their hated rivals in Atlanta.
Taysom Hill has been uneven as a starting quarterback
Hill didn’t throw a touchdown in his starts against the Falcons and Broncos, but he did rush for four touchdowns while letting the defense going to work. However, a Falcons team that was unprepared for what the Saints offense would look like with Hill and a Broncos team playing with an undrafted rookie wide receiver with one day of practice at quarterback isn’t exactly elite competition.
With a few more nice throws like that, Hill could start to show he is a viable backup NFL quarterback and not just a carnival sideshow of a gadget player. The Saints are holding onto the top seed in the NFC, and Hill should get a ton of credit if he manages to hold down the fort until Brees returns.
The Saints might not be Super Bowl contenders with Hill under center, and Jameis Winston could almost certainly open up their passing game, but Payton is finding creative ways to win games with Hill under center.
As long as they keep chalking up wins, Saints fans will be completely behind this experiment.
