Will a Signing Day surprise be on the way for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs Wednesday morning?

On Wednesday, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs will officially be welcoming double-digit players to the program. Could there be a late addition on the way — a 5-star linebacker from Florida?

Out of powerhouse IMG Academy, Xavian Sorey is yet to announce his commitment but is down to Alabama, Florida and Georgia. With that being said, the momentum is swinging in the favor of the Bulldogs, with Georgia now receiving the majority of the ‘Crystal Ball’ projections on 247Sports.

The Georgia Bulldogs are the favorite to sign 5-star linebacker Xavian Sorey

Per insider Hank South, who covers Alabama, his sources have told him that Georgia is in the lead right now. South even put in his pick in for Smart and Georgia to sign Sorey. Multiple other 247Sports analysts have also joined in with the Bulldogs as the pick.

While nothing will be final until Sorey sends in his National Letter of Intent, it would be a monster get for the program. Sorey is ranked the No. 1 outside linebacker per the 247Sports composite and is the No. 20 player overall. Georgia has 20 commits thus far for the 2021 class, with three 5-star recruits on board.

One of those prospects is Smael Mondon, the No. 2 outside linebacker in the nation. If Sorey indeed picks Georgia, that’d give the Bulldogs defense the top two outside linebackers out there. It’d be an incredible haul. The addition of Sorey would also be huge for Georgia’s hopes of once again finishing with the top class. They’ve finished No. 1 two of the last three years.

As exciting as Signing Day was scheduled to be, Georgia fans could be in for even more big news. Stay tuned to see where Sorey decides to play his college ball, but things sure are looking good for the Bulldogs.
