Packers can clinch top seed in NFC next week
By Mike Luciano
The Green Bay Packers might wrap up the No. 1 seed soon.
In a week that saw the New Orleans Saints slip up against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Rams somehow hand the New York Jets a victory, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers zoomed ahead to the No. 1 seed in the NFC. They might be able to wrap up that seed, which would give them a bye and home-field advantage, should a few lucky breaks go in their favor.
If the Packers beat the Tennessee Titans next week, and the Rams bounce back and take down the Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay will officially clinch the top seed in the NFC.
The Packers are playing their best football of late
While some left the Packers for dead after their implosion at the hands of Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay has spent the last few weeks bludgeoning the rest of the conference. While Rodgers is playing at an MVP level, Aaron Jones rushing through anyone who dares to mount any sort of an effort against him. With Mike Pettine’s defense overcoming a sluggish start, the Packers are truly firing on all cylinders.
Green Bay will take on Tennessee in Week 16 before heading to Chicago to tussle with the Bears in Week 17. While the defense still has some holes, and the lack of receiving depth is genuinely a big question mark, the Packers should be on track to make a deep run in the postseason, barring any Raheem Mostert-esque dominations like San Francisco inflicted upon them last season.
The Packers finally look like title contenders after years of sticking in the gray dough of mediocrity. If Rodgers keeps playing at his MVP pace and the defense makes plays when called upon, this team could end up taking home another Lombardi trophy.
