Fantasy Stars & Studs, Week 16: Non-Alvin Kamara league-winners
Fantasy championships were not just settled by Alvin Kamara in Week 16
For most, the 2020 fantasy football season is in the books. Week 16 typically marks championship week in the majority of formats and, this year, a large number of titles will have been decided by one of the great fantasy performances from New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara.
He had 155 rushing yards on 22 carries and a remarkable six rushing touchdowns in the Saints’ blowout win over the Minnesota Vikings and their hapless defense, helping him finish with 53.2 points in standard scoring. Factoring in his three catches for 17 yards, Kamara had 56.2 points in PPR leagues.
According to CBS Sports, Kamara’s points haul was the most ever scored by an individual player on championship week. Those lucky enough to have Kamara in their lineup for the crucial final week were almost certainly toasting a title, with those unfortunate enough to be going against him left cursing their misfortune at having to pull off a near-impossible comeback to claim the crown.
Beyond Kamara’s exhibition on the ground, there were several excellent performances that are likely to have swayed the direction of fantasy championships.
The top receiver for the Green Bay Packers again made his case for the title of best in the game at his position.
Another talented wideout kept the Dallas Cowboys in the playoff hunt with an instrumental display while a veteran receiver was key to the New York Jets claiming their second win of the campaign.
Here we look at some of the best performances of Week 16 and assess their short-term impact in terms of daily fantasy and what their showings mean for 2021.
