This holiday season, Alvin Kamara and the New Orleans Saints will never forget.

The New Orleans Saints clinched the NFC South for the fourth straight season but that was a cliff note on this holiday afternoon.

Alvin Kamara didn’t need long to put their 52-33 victory against the Minnesota Vikings away. When the clock struck zero, Kamara scored six touchdowns against and now has 21 total scores on the season.

If this doesn’t bump him into the Offensive Player of the Year category, nothing will.

Kamara now is tied for the all-time record in single-game touchdowns for an afternoon. The last time a player rushed for six touchdowns came back in 1929 when Ernie Nevers did it when the Arizona Cardinals were still based in Chicago.

Sure, that’s a crazy stat to see, but there’s plenty more interesting stats to go along with his career day.

Three incredible stats on Kamara’s record-setting day

3. Kamara set career-highs in near every category in his career

The 2020 season will be one Kamara soon won’t forget. Not only did he grab his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl appearance, but near every stat has him posting career numbers.

With his final score, Kamara set a new franchise record in total touchdowns by a skill player with 21. Thanks to his three catches for 17 yards, he grabbed a new best in catches at 83.  Plus, after a 155-yard afternoon, his 923 yards on the season is a new best in rushing total.

Every way you look at Kamara, he did set records on Friday afternoon. If they weren’t national, they will still ones fans of the Bayou team will care about. Talk about a Christmas gift that will be hard to top in 2021.

2. Kamara likely won a team fantasy football their championship

For anyone who enjoys playing fantasy football, one must know of how important a dual-threat player can be. Kamara is probably the ultimate running back that quarterbacks love to run out of the backfield.

But with this week being the championship for multiple league, Kamara likely won his team the title for 2020. According to ESPN’s fantasy’s chart, he finished with 56.2 points. On the Sleeper app, he finished with 54.7.

That makes him the second-most player in points for a fantasy game of all-time. Talk about a record day for the man with the plan.

Kamara’s always been a fan favorite for fantasy owners since he can do so much after the catch. Now, he should be in line to be the top selection for many years to come.

1. Kamara ended a 55-year drought of six touchdowns

It’s been over 50 years since a six touchdown day. Nevers might have been the last player to rush for six touchdowns. However, another great running back accomplished the feat well before Kamara was ever born.

The name? The one and only Gayle Sayers back in 1965.

During the team’s 61-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, Sayers rushed for five scores entering the fourth quarter. Thanks to a stop by the defense, the legend had a chance to return a punt 85 yards to house, giving Chicago a 54-20 lead.

Sayers went on to be one of the greatest runners to ever grace the gridiron. While Kamara is known as a dual-treat option, he showed that his legs can carry the load, seeing  two of his touchdowns go for more than 10 yards after contact.

Redzone touchdowns are great, but showing off the speed in the open field is just as good. Misson accomplished for No.41.
