Who are the Rams going to play in the Divisional Round?
Somehow or another the Los Angles Rams are moving onto the Divisional Round.
For those out there looking at the scorecard, Jared Goff entered the game a week off of thumb surgery when John Wolford exited with a new injury. Many thought this could be the end of Goff’s time donning the bone-style uniforms following a struggle in the second half of the season.
Goff wasn’t pretty. He wasn’t perfect either. The difference maker? A 15-yard touchdown to Robert Woods gave the Rams a 30-13 lead with just over five minutes remaining. And without the sound of the 12th Man to ruin the call, Goff and Sean McVay could smile.
A 30-20 victory for the Los Angeles Rams has the first upset of the Wild Card Round. Goff finished 9-of-19 for 155 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Russell Wilson‘s screen pass was perfectly played by Darious Williams. Forty-two yards and six points later, it was in favor of the NFC West underdogs.
Wilson finished 11-of-27 for 174 yards and two touchdowns , stalemating his status as a top-three quarterback for the 2021 season.
Where do the Rams go next?
Everything for Los Angeles now relies in the hands of Chicago. Should the Bears and Mitchell Trubisky somehow manage to take down the likes of Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, the Rams would have the winner of Washington and Tampa Bay played later on Saturday evening.
For Chicago, things go from bad to worse at both wide receiver Darnell Mooney and linebacker Roquan Smith have been ruled out with injures. Meanwhile, the Saints will be getting back All-Pro running back Alvin Kamara in the knick of time.
If New Orleans moves on, the Rams would automatically be facing the Green Bay Packers as the lowest seed. Right now, there might not be a more dangerous offense than an Aaron Rodgers-led unit. Not only does the franchise in the frozen tundra have an MVP under center, but they’ll feature an All-Pro center blocking Aaron Donald and an All-Pro receiver to take on Jalen Ramsey.
McVay is now 37-0 now with a victory at Lumen Field. Goff somehow survives another week, but a game in the freezing Lambeau atmosphere will give the franchise a bit more ease with him in their future.
For Rams fans, everyone will be rooting for Trubisky down in Bayou for a better matchup.
