Anthony Miller ejected for taking swing at Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

Chicago Bears wide receiver Anthony Miller was ejected for taking a swing at New Orleans Saints safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.

Entering the Wild Card Round, the Chicago Bears were already without their top players in cornerback Jaylon Johnson, linebacker Roquan Smith and wide receiver Darnell Mooney on the active roster. The Bears couldn’t afford to lose anymore players on their roster against the second-seeded New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately they lost one due to a bad temper.

In the third quarter, quarterback Mitchell Trubisky threw an incomplete pass after facing pressure from Saints edge rusher Cam Jordan. However, flags began flying in the secondary. The reason behind that was that Bears wide receiver Anthony Miller punched or shoved Saints safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, resulting in him getting ejected for the remainder of the contest.

No love lost between Miller and Gardner-Johnson

Miller and Gardner-Johnson are no strangers to one another. The Saints defensive back is known for his ability to get under his opponent’s skin. Hell, Gardner-Johnson even got teammate Michael Thomas to take a swing at him during a practice!

Back in Week 8, Gardner-Johnson poked Miller in the face, which caught the ire of fellow wide receiver Javon Wims, who punched the safety in the helmet to earn himself an ejection. The NFL would give Wims a two-game suspension for his actions.

Prior to the Wild Card game, Miller didn’t acknowledge Gardner-Johnson when asked about it by Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune, only to respond with “who?” That comment didn’t age well, because now Miller is ejected from a pivotal playoff game for the Bears.
