Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond wins Senior Bowl MVP honors

Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond helped improve his NFL Draft stock by winning the MVP honors at the Senior Bowl.
This year’s Senior Bowl holds much more significance than in years past with the NFL Scouting Combine going virtual due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This was the chance for prospects to show out for scouts in Mobile, Ala. There’s no way to do better than by winning the Senior Bowl MVP. And this year, it goes to Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond.
On Saturday, Mond completed 13-of-25 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns for the American Team in their 27-24 loss to the National Team.

Kellen Mond’s great year results in more hardware
Mond was a true difference maker for the American Team, as he gave them a 16-13 lead in the third quarter on his two scores. The first came on a pass to a leaping Clemson wide receiver Amari Rodgers and the second came on a throw to Tennessee wideout Josh Palmer on a slant route.

This caps off a tremendous year for Mond, who broke Texas A&M’s passing touchdown and total offense records and won the Orange Bowl.
Winning Senior Bowl MVP has done wonders for prospects in the NFL Draft. Most recently, Daniel Jones and Justin Herbert won over their respective teams and were selected no later than the sixth-overall pick.
Mond isn’t in the top-tier of quarterback prospects like Trevor Lawrence, Justin Field, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance and Mac Jones are. But, he can be a late Day 2/early Day 3 target for teams in need of a quarterback. Dak Prescott ended up in a similar situation in 2016. After winning Senior Bowl MVP, Prescott was selected in the fourth-round of the NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, who turned into a top-10 quarterback in the league.
Expect a team in need of a quarterback who can’t land one of the aforementioned five signal callers to keep tabs on Mond throughout the pre-draft process.
