Aaron Jones is already a popular target on the free agent market.

Jones could feature in just about any NFL backfield, and for Aaron Rodgers to lose his services after two straight NFC Championship games would be a major blow. Yet, that’s very much under consideration by Jones and his representatives, as a high number of NFL teams are already making the call.

Just last season, Jones had 1,104 yards and nine touchdowns. The season prior, he also played a pivotal role in the Packers offense. While Green Bay was planning for his eventual exit given the decision to draft AJ Dillon last season, there’s no denying that the Packers backfield won’t look the same without No. 33.

Who else is in on the Aaron Jones free agent sweepstakes?

On the surface, all four of these suitors make sense. The 49ers could use an addition to their run game, and pairing Jones with Kyle Shanahan just sounds unfair. The Dolphins, meanwhile, are on the come up and short of offensive weapons. Jones would provide that and then some behind Tua Tagovailoa or even Deshaun Watson should they pull the trigger on such a trade.

The Steelers are at risk of losing James Conner, and if they can convince Ben Roethlisberger to take a much smaller cap hit, they may have room to add at the running back position.

Finally, the Bears would serve as a worst-case scenario for Packers fans. Jones is smart to go to the highest bidder, even if it’s a bitter rival of his former team. Chicago struggled in the run game at times last year, and with the QB position constantly in flux, having a good running back to turn to when times get tough makes a lot of sense.

If the Packers can’t hold onto Jones, they’ll surely be kicking themselves.
