OL. Kansas City Chiefs. 124. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Mike Remmers . 2.. player

Mahomes is without a doubt the most talented quarterback in the NFL. He likely will be that over the next two decades similar to that of Tom Brady. How much of that was due to production and how much was due to a stout offensive line?

Let’s say both played a role.

Mahomes obviously was going to flourish, but during his MVP season, Kansas City allowed only 26 sacks — fifth fewest in the NFL. And since then, they’ve allowed a combined 49 in both runs to the Super Bowl.

Is Mitchell Schwartz going to call it a career this offseason? Will the Chiefs cut Eric Fisher after suffering a torn Achilles? Veach will go into the draft with a mindset to draft offensive linemen, but they need a sturdy player who can do it all. That’s where Remmers comes in after a season where he played both right tackle and left guard.

The 31-year-old was asked to do more than just protect Mahomes this season. He also needed to learn all four positions on the offensive line. That means knowing when to pull, when to double team and making sure he wasn’t mixing it up with a different assignment.

Remmers will be affordable and he did so much this season. He’s worthy a decent payday.
