While he has not officially requested a trade, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has named the Dallas Cowboys as an acceptable trade destination.

The relationship between the Seattle Seahawks and franchise quarterback Russell Wilson is super complicated at this point.

Another 12-win season came to a screeching halt when the team took a tough 30-20 loss to their division rival Los Angeles Rams in last season’s playoffs.

In the subsequent weeks, Wilson has been vocal about his disappointment in the team’s ability to protect him. The team’s offense has never really been built around his strengths, but his abilities have allowed him to get them the success that they’ve had to this point. Still, the Seahawks organization is not happy with Wilson & camp’s decision to go public with their criticisms.

Now, it looks like Wison has provided the front office with a list of possible trade destinations and the Dallas Cowboys are on it.

Russell Wilson is not opposed to becoming a member of the Dallas Cowboys

Wilson, in his almost 10 years with the Seahawks, is still a great quarterback option for any team in the league. While it’s unlikely that the Seahawks will be able to trade him this offseason, Dallas being a preferred destination is definitely interesting.

Dak Prescott’s future with the Cowboys is still uncertain but he’ll be an unrestricted free agent so that makes this Wilson situation more interesting.

It’s unclear how Dallas will choose to proceed with Prescott, but they could be in need of a quarterback soon. A trade seems more likely a year from now when  Wilson’s cap hit for 2022 is at $26 million, which would be less than what the Cowboys would pay Dak Prescott if he were to be franchise tagged for the third time.

For now, Wilson will continue to float around in the rumor mill as this year continues to be another interesting year of sports.
