The Chicago Bears’ chances to land Russell Wilson this offseason seem rather slim. However, they can pivot to acquire one of these three quarterbacks instead.

When it comes to the quarterback position, the Chicago Bears‘ situation has their fan base on the verge of vomiting. This past season, the Bears put all their eggs in the basket of Mitchell Trubisky in hopes of him bouncing back, and brought in Nick Foles to see if he can replicate the success he had with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Bears did make the playoffs, but the quarterback position held them back immensely.

Now with general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy being given one more chance to turn things around in Chicago, they need to prioritize fixing the quarterback depth chart. While fans were ecstatic to read that Russell Wilson would accept a trade from the Seattle Seahawks to the Bears, it is highly unlikely that that would even happen, especially before the start of the 2021 season. That means the team has to work on improving it right now instead of banking on a miracle.

With that in mind, here are three quarterbacks the Bears can acquired once they ultimately whiff on a Wilson trade.

Jameis Winston. 3.. player. 15. Pick Analysis. QB. New Orleans Saints. Scouting Report

After his infamous 30-for-30 campaign in 2019, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers parted ways with Jameis Winston and replaced him with one Tom Brady. Instead of looking to find somewhere to start immediately, Winston decided to join the New Orleans Saints to improve his game like Teddy Bridgewater did.

While Winston did get to learn from the likes of quarterback Drew Brees and head coach Sean Payton, the former 2015 first-overall pick never got the chance to start in the Big Easy. Winston would only enter in relief of Brees after he suffered rib fractures against the San Francisco 49ers, but jack of all trades signal caller Taysom Hill got the nod at starter ahead of him.

If there was one highlight of Winston’s one-year stint with the Saints, it was his trick play touchdown pass to receiver Tre’Quan Smith in the NFC Divisional Round against the Buccaneers. That play showed that Winston still has a cannon for an arm, and his accuracy was splendid.

Winston would be a low-risk, high-reward signing by the Bears. He won’t come with an expensive price tag and could thrive with Allen Robinson in the passing game (if he stays). Oh, and he had Lasik eye surgery to repair his vision last year. Why not take a chance?
