The Chiefs enter the 2021 NFL season as Super Bowl favorites. Nailing their first round draft choice can help Kansas City live up to that label.

There’s nothing more dangerous in the NFL than a team with elite talent and wounded pride. That’s just how the Chiefs should be described heading into their 2021 campaign.

The franchise is still smarting from a blowout loss to the Buccaneers in the Super Bowl. That doesn’t change the fact that Andy Reid’s team still has just as much talent as any other roster in the league. Fixing a few weaknesses in April’s draft could be enough to reunite the Chiefs with the Lombardi Trophy next year.

The loss to Tampa laid the team’s offensive line issues bare for the whole world to see. Getting guys back from injury should help tremendously, but nabbing a starting guard or tackle with the No. 31 overall selection would still be advisable.

The other reasonable course of action would be to spend the first round pick on an edge rusher. That was arguably a bigger issue for the Chiefs over the course of the full 2020 season. Fans in Kansas City should keep a close eye on the following five prospects.

5. Dillon Radunz

Trey Lance isn’t the only intriguing draft prospect on North Dakota State’s roster. His starting left tackle is also going to get looks from teams looking to upgrade their offense lines late in Round 1.

It’s more likely that Radunz slips to Round 2 because of concerns about his lack of size. He doesn’t project as a large tackle by any stretch of the imagination. What he does well is knock the opposing defensive off the ball with sheer power. He could give the Chiefs some toughness they lack up front.
