Chiefs could go in ‘literally any direction’ in draft aside from QB

Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach is open for business in the 2021 NFL Draft.
After trading out of the first round in the 2021 NFL Draft in the Orlando Brown Jr. deal with the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach could draft pretty much anyone he likes with his two day-two picks … well, except for a quarterback.
Kansas City has two second-round picks on Friday: The No. 58 overall selection from Baltimore in the Brown trade and their own pick at No. 63. Since Kansas City largely addressed its offensive line issues by signing Joe Thuney and Kyle Long in free agency long before trading for Brown, it is unlikely the Chiefs go in that direction on Friday night. However, they have the freedom to do so.
What areas should the Chiefs address in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft on Friday night?
Kansas City Chiefs have plenty of options heading into day two of the draft
The three position groups that would make the most sense for the Chiefs to address on Friday nigh are wide receiver, cornerback and pass rusher, probably in that order. Because many top pass-rushing talents dropped in the draft on Thursday night, the Chiefs make take advantage of that and add a defensive end or an outside linebacker they did not think they could end up getting.
As far as addressing issues existing out on the perimeter, more cornerbacks came off the board than expected in the first 32 picks, so that is something to consider if you are the Chiefs. When it comes to wide receivers, yes, some guys got overdrafted in round one, but this is an incredibly deep position group. As long as the Chiefs do not overreach on a guy, they will be in good shape.
Veach is right in that the Chiefs can go in any direction in the second round except at quarterback.
