1 veteran for Tigers to demote: LHP Daniel Norris

Regardless of how poorly Miguel Cabrera has played so far this season, he is not getting demoted. If anything, he could receive the Albert Pujols treatment, where the team could ultimately release him from his contract. Besides Cabrera, the easy choice to send down is reliever Daniel Norris.

The former starter turned relief pitcher has been far from solid when entering Tigers games this season. In his second appearance of the season, Norris was given the loss after he surrendered four earned runs on four hits (one home run) in 1.2 innings of work in Detroit’s 9-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians on April 4. While he did bring down his ERA into the single digits, it is still above the 6.00-range.

Through 12 games this season, Norris owns a 7.30 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP, where he recorded 11 strikeouts and issued six walks in 12.1 innings of work.

While there is still plenty of games left for any player to turn things around, Norris seems nowhere near heading back into the sub-4.00 ERA territory. Maybe a stint in the minor leagues can help him work on and improve his game.
