After the breaking news that the Los Angeles Angels have released Albert Pujols, the St. Louis Cardinals shouldn’t waste a second in bringing the club legend back to the team.

Seemingly out of nowhere, the Los Angeles Angels have made the big decision to part ways with future Hall-of-Fame slugger Albert Pujols, according to MLB insider Mark Feinsand. In this last year of his massive 10-year deal, Pujols has struggled at the plate, posting a .198 average.

Now that he’s a free agent once again, though, you better believe multiple teams will be ready to add his services. With that said, the St. Louis Cardinals need to get on the horn as soon as possible and get him back to Busch Stadium where he belongs.

Albert Pujols closing out his career with the St. Louis Cardinals would be sensational

Pujols spent the first 11 years of his incredible career in St. Louis, solidifying himself as one of the best hitters in the game. Throughout his time with the Cardinals, Pujols was named NL MVP three times and played in the All-Star Game in nine campaigns.

He also belted 445 home runs with the club, while also adding 1,329 RBI. His last season with the organization came in 2011, the same year St. Louis went on to win the World Series. Pujols also won it all with the team back in 2006.

For his career, the 6-foot-3, 235-pounder has a mind-blowing 667 home runs to his name. That checks in at No. 5 on the all-time list. Pujols still has plenty left in the tank and will want to join a contender to close out his career the right way. A reunion with the Cardinals not only makes sense, but it’d truly be special to see.
