Kiké Hernández has hilarious answer after returning from IL with a homer
Boston Red Sox center fielder Kiké Hernández returned from his 10-game stint on the IL with a bang, hitting a home run against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Fans of the Boston Red Sox know Kiké Hernández a little bit better now than they did before Wednesday’s victory over the Blue Jays.
In case anyone ever wondered, the center fielder made sure everyone knows two of his great likes in life.
“I like bangs. I like to bang,” Hernández said in his postgame interview when asked about coming off the IL with a bang. “It was very nice.”
Hernández can like whatever he wants if he keeps banging at the plate as he did on Wednesday.
Kiké Hernández has looked good in his return for the Red Sox
In just his second game back from a hamstring injury, Hernández went 3-for-5 with a 391-foot home run, a lead-off single and a double. He was a triple away from hitting the cycle.
The top-drawer swinging performance helped the Red Sox notch a 7-3 victory to take the bad taste out of their mouth after Tuesday’s 8-0 loss to Toronto in the series opener.
Hernández, who missed 10 games on the injured list because of his hamstring, made his return in that game, going 1-for-4. The following day brought a much more gratifying performance all around.
Hits in both games mean the 29-year-old has been able to extend his hitting streak from before the injury to six games.
Boston can take comfort in the positive trajectory as they maintain their lead in the AL East over the Rays.
Hernández is batting .254/.308/.459 with five home runs in his first 32 games with the Red Sox. He signed with the team as a free agent this offseason after six seasons in Los Angeles with the Dodgers.
