The Boston Red Sox continue to dazzle and two stats in particular prove why they’re currently the best team in baseball.

After losing the first three games of the season, the Boston Red Sox really look like the best team in the bigs. At the dish and with fantastic pitching, Boston is dominating its competition. This is something that fans in New York hate seeing, which only makes things even sweeter.

But just how good have the Red Sox been? In this piece, we’ve got two stats that showcase why they’re indeed the best club around.

Red Sox lead the majors in batting average

Behind the sensational play of J.D. Martinez, the Boston Red Sox hold the No. 1 batting average in MLB right now. As of this writing, Boston’s team average is .267, while they’re also at the top of baseball with 170 RBI. They’ve also added an impressive 43 dingers. It’s been a ton of fun watching this team each day.

For Martinez, he’s in MVP form right now. Seriously, after a nightmare 2020 campaign at the dish, Martinez is a totally different man in 2021. He currently leads the majors with his 31 RBI, while he’s tied with Ronald Acuna Jr. and Shohei Ohtani with 10 dingers. Again, Martinez really has bounced back in a big way for the Red Sox.

It’s not just him who’s been on a tear. Xander Bogaerts is also in fantastic form. Bogaerts leads everyone with 45 hits and he’s also sporting a head-turning .349 average. With him and Martinez doing so well at the plate, it’s no wonder that Boston is one of the most feared teams around. In 2020, Boston finished in last place of the AL East standings. Now, they’re ready to compete for a pennant. The hot hitting is a major reason for that, with Martinez, Bogaerts and others really stepping their game up.
