Alex Cora still hasn’t come to terms with his role in sign-stealing scandal
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora’s latest comments show he still hasn’t taken full responsibility for his role in the sign-stealing scandal.
Things are back to normal for the Boston Red Sox, as Alex Cora is once again the skipper and the club is in the middle of a tight AL East battle. With that said, that doesn’t mean that controversy and drama hasn’t left the club completely.
Cora is still looked at negatively by many fans thanks to his involvement in the Houston Astros’ 2017 sign-stealing scandal. Now that Cora’s back in Houston to face the Astros, though, his latest comments won’t be shutting up any of his haters, especially with him making it clear he was hurt by what former Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow had to say.
Alex Cora’s latest quote shows he hasn’t learned much from the sign-stealing scandal
“Out of the whole report, the way Jeff talked about myself, just saying, ‘the bench coach,’ that really bothered me,” Cora said, via Chris Cotillo of Mass Live. “I don’t know what was said in the investigation. I know what I said and what I went through. It is what it is.
“I got suspended. Deservedly so. That’s something, it will always be on my resumé. At the end, we all made a mistake, we all messed up and we are all paying the price.”
While Cora admits that he was deservedly suspended, the fact that he’s so upset over what Luhnow had to say really isn’t a great look. Cora attempting to look like a victim here is a bit surprising as well. You’d think his focus would be on trying to overtake the Tampa Bay Rays at the top of the division. Instead, he’s taking issue with his former GM. Come on.
