Let’s be honest, if we’re talking about betting then the last thing anyone expected was an Eastern Conference Finals between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks.

Milwaukee is supposed to be here, as Giannis Antetokounmpo is still expected to deliver at least a trip to the NBA Finals to long suffering Bucks fans. As rocky as the road to get here has been, Milwaukee is four wins away from partially fulfilling its destiny.

Atlanta, however, is a total party crashes. The Hawks disposed of the Knicks in five games, then shocked everyone by dismantling the 76ers in seven games. Trae Young has fully arrived as a superstar in the NBA, and the Hawks run to the Eastern Conference Finals is validation for anyone who invested stock in the Trae Young side of the debate between him and Luka Doncic.

The question is whether the Hawks are more the Bubble Heat of last year or the infamous Frank Vogel-led Pacers teams of the 2010s. Can Atlanta continue a run to the Finals while every series begins with them being slept on, or is this finally where a dream run ends when a superior team stands in the way?
