Here’s why the Clippers have “honey” on their jerseys.

The internet seems really confused about the word “honey” on the Los Angeles Clippers jerseys during Game 3 vs the Phoenix Suns and we really can’t blame you. It’s not something we normally see and inquiring minds want to know. Well, you’re at the right place. We know why (we googled too, don’t be embarrassed).

It’s a sponsor.

Yep, that’s it. It’s not a social justice memorial. It’s not the secret code to Batman’s cave and it’s not the name of one of the player’s daughters. It’s just a money thing … because of course.

“We are proud to wear the Honey logo on our jerseys as we grow our businesses together,” said Gillian Zucker, Clippers President of Business Operations. “Honey’s story is one of entrepreneurial success that is becoming more commonplace in LA, and partnering with a homegrown brand that has championship aspirations aligns with what we believe in and work hard for every day.”

Honey on Clippers jersey had people confused during the Suns game

Honey is a LA-based technology company (we thought it was food-related too). But it’s actually a popular shopping and rewards brand and it’s where you’d go to buy Clippers gear.

“The LA Clippers have aligned with Honey’s core values from the get-go and lead with commitment, passion and conviction,” said Honey co-founder George Ruan. “Our relationship continues to spotlight Honey among engaged sports fans and we are excited to enter a new phase of growth for our brands.”
