Yankees lineup to face Shohei Ohtani is downright embarrassing

The New York Yankees just dropped their lineup to face Shohei Ohtani and fans could not be more disgusted by it. 

Life sure has not gone according to plan for the New York Yankees this season. With the team in fourth place of the AL East standings, they’ve become a bit of a laughingstock in 2021. Things were only made worse leading up to Wednesday’s first pitch.

With the Bronx Bombers all set to take on the Los Angeles Angels and Shohei Ohtani at Yankee Stadium under the bright lights, skipper Aaron Boone’s lineup card sure leaves a lot to be desired.

What in the heck is Boone thinking here? Of course, no Aaron Judge or Gio Urshela really jumps off the page. Why in the world are these guys not taking the plate going up against one of the best hurlers in the AL? As you might have been able to guess, folks are quite angry on Twitter.

Everyone also won’t love Boone’s explanation as to why two of his best hitters won’t be in action come the first pitch. Matter of fact, it’s frustrating.

Just a day? Come on, Boone. While rest is of course needed over a 162-game season, sitting two studs like Judge and Urshela on the same day just makes no sense. As things stand, New York is 7.5 games back of the Boston Red Sox for first place of the AL East standings.

While Brian Cashman came out and gave Boone a vote of confidence, his decisions leading up to Wednesday’s game won’t result in fans doing the same. We’ll see how the Yankees do against LA, but things already aren’t looking promising.
