Fire up those Davante Adams Raiders rumors after Packers botch contract talks
The possibility of Davante Adams heading to the Las Vegas Raiders seems more likely than ever as the Packers botched contract talks with the receiver.
All those Davante Adams Raiders rumors just got a major signal boost.
Contract extension talks between the Packers and the star wide receiver have broken down, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported on Friday. Las Vegas is now on notice.
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has already been vocal about wanting to partner up with this former Fresno State teammate.
The idea of Carr and Adams teaming up was a fun thought, but it seemed more likely the Packers would lock Adams in with a big contract extension. Now that talks are off, talk of Adams to the Raiders is sure to flourish.
Davante Adams Raiders rumors are going to heat up
The question is what form a move could take. Las Vegas could make a trade offer to bring Adams in right away.
However, Adams will be an unrestricted free agent in 2022. No contract extension means he could play this season and enter the open market then.
Either way, snagging Adams would mean giving him a huge contract. He wants to be paid like the best wide receiver in the league. It would be money well deserved.
Adams entered the league in 2014 as a second-round pick. He’s exceeded that draft position with first-round production.
Each of the last four seasons, Adams made the Pro Bowl. In 2020 he was an All-Pro for the first time in his career with 1,374 yards and 18 touchdowns.
This latest development with the receiver is fuel on a fire burning in Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers’ dispute with the franchise continues. That game of chicken, with Rodgers refusing to return to the Packers and the Packers refusing to trade him, looks like it’ll continue for a while.
