The Chicago White Sox lineup is finally back at full strength thanks to the return of Yasmani Grandal.

In calling up Grandal, the White Sox sent down fellow catcher, Zack Collins, to Triple-A Charlotte. Collins was slashing .202/.324/.331 in a stint replacing Grandal, who himself was red-hot in his rehab stints in the minor leagues.

When healthy, Grandal is among the best catchers in the American League. He’s been far from that, however, and was even hitting under the Mendoza line at the time of his injury. Grandal is batting .188/.388/.436 with 14 home runs and 38 RBI so far in his campaign, which has lasted just over 60 games.

White Sox: Yasmani Grandal returns to the lineup

Grandal will hit sixth in his White Sox return, which comes at the perfect time as Chicago ramps things up for the American League postseason.

The White Sox hold a comfortable nine-game lead in the AL Central, so they’re not at much risk of losing the division lead down the stretch. Barring an immeasurable collapse, the White Sox should wrap things up in the coming weeks, while Grandal gets valuable reps in September.
