Jake Paul mocks Tyron Woodley with chicken, shoving match ensues (Video)
You knew that Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley would get physical during their public weigh-in faceoff. Here’s what went down during the staredown.
Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley faced off for the last time before their Sunday, Aug. 29, cruiserweight boxing bout at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. It was only a matter of time before things turned physical during the public weigh-in.
Most of the event was uneventful until Paul got on the mic with Ariel Helwani. He and Woodley already engaged in their staredown. They went forehead to forehead but avoid physical contact beyond that.
That soon changed after Paul started to talk a bit more. He ate some chicken while talking to Helwani and found a way to turn it into a barb towards Woodley.
“Chicken fingers, Tyron’s a chicken,” Paul told Helwani. “It makes sense.”
Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley exchange more than words at their public weigh-in
Paul continued, “I told him he’s dead.”
Not long after that, Woodley approached Paul, and Paul touched Woodley’s head. That’s when a brief shoving match between the two went down.
There were plenty of people that intervened, but the stage at KeyBank State Theater got crowded quickly.
The Paul brothers are known for talking trash and stirring the pot. Jake is an expert at the tactic, and it was only a matter of time before he said something to instigate a fight.
Fight week between Paul and Woodley has been filled with drama. Paul’s team insulted Woodley’s mother, and the words have been flying for some time.
Is this all a ploy to gain pre-fight hype, or is there real bad blood between Paul and Woodley?
Maybe it’s a mixture of both. Regardless, they’re set for a major Showtime pay-per-view fight that will be the talk of the weekend. They collide on Sunday, Aug. 29, at 8 p.m. ET on Showtime pay-per-view.
