No drug testing for Jake Paul or Tyron Woodley before bout
Reporter Mike Bohn was told by Ohio State Athletic Commission that neither Jake Paul nor Tyron Woodley will receive fight night drug testing.
In a surprising move, the Ohio State Athletic Commission will not test Jake Paul or Tyron Woodley ahead of their Sunday, Aug. 29, cruiserweight Showtime pay-per-view boxing bout.
Hours before the public weigh-in on Aug. 28, MMAJunkie.com reporter Mike Bohn tweeted about the lack of drug testing before Paul vs. Woodley.
“The Ohio State Athletic Commission head tells me Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley will NOT be subjected to fight night drug tests,” read Bohn’s tweet. “Only athletes to be tested on the card are those competing in title bouts.”
This news throws some added fuel onto claims made by combat sports coach Firas Zahabi in a recent YouTube video (h/t MMAJunkie.com). He accused Paul of using PEDs before his fight with Woodley.
According to what Jake Paul told MMAJunkie, he has yet to be tested for PEDs before his bout with Tyron Woodley
Paul responded to those accusations to MMAJunkie.com.
“These claims are stupid, and of course (Zahabi is) doing it to get clout,” Paul told MMAJunkie. “Look at it four weeks later it’s still getting brought up in interviews. His name gets mentioned. He gets some clout, and he’s a happy little wanker jerking off to these videos somewhere all excited about the clout he’s getting.”
Based on Bohn’s report, Amanda Serrano and Yamileth Mercado are the only athletes being tested the night before the fight.
There’s a lot of unanswered questions. One would assume that Paul and Woodley will be tested after the fight, but why not before? Paul also told MMAJunkie that he has yet to be tested leading up to the fight.
These protocols are extremely loose for a major main event. This will be sure to draw the ire of fans.
