Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley main card weigh-in results
Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley came in on point within a half-pound of each other during the early morning weigh-in. Here’s how the fighters looked.
Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley weighed in early on Saturday, Aug. 28, the day before their Showtime pay-per-view fight. Both came in fighting shape.
The early morning weigh-in was the official weigh-in for the boxers on the main event card. Only media members were present at the hotel banquet area.
The morning event was largely uneventful, with Paul coming in at 190 pounds. Woodley hit the scale at 189.5 pounds. Woodley fights at the welterweight limit of 170 pounds in MMA, so this is the largest we’ve seen Woodley in a combat sport.
The biggest drama during weigh-in occurred when media members were notified that Tommy Fury vs. Anthony Taylor would move from six rounds to four rounds. Taylor voiced his displeasure to the media, as seen during Fight Hub’s live stream. A promoter for the event stated a discrepancy with British boxing commission rules that required Fury to fight four rounds against an 0-1 opponent or that could face suspension.
It was a curious explanation that didn’t make much sense, but Fury vs. Taylor is four rounds regardless at this point.
Since Showtime’s YouTube channel didn’t carry the official morning weigh-ins, several media sites streamed the event. It was difficult to hear some of the weights for some prelim bouts, but MMAFighting.com listed the official weights, which FanSided included below.
