Kylian Mbappe turns down record PSG offer: What’s next?
According to reports out of France, Kylian Mbappe turned down a contract offer from Paris Saint-Germain that would have made him the highest-paid player in the world.
Despite Real Madrid ready to break the bank to try and land Kylian Mbappe this transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain has decided to not sell and keep the French phenom in the fold. With that said, reports out of France have stated that Mbappe turned down quite the offer from the club to extend his deal.
With Mbappe out of contract at the end of the campaign, it looks like PSG offered Mbappe an extension worth around $53 million a year. It would have made him the richest player in the world salary wise, but he still said no. Goodness.
Kylian Mbappe not extending his deal is massive news for Real Madrid
So, what’s next for Mbappe? The expectation is that the forward will play out the final year of his deal and then sign with a new team next summer. For Real Madrid, this means they’ll probably just have to wait a little longer to get the man they covet so much.
Mbappe has openly said playing for Madrid is a dream of his. He was pushing for that move to happen this summer, but the PSG board didn’t allow for it to go down. Even with Madrid offering more than $200 million for him?
This just tells you that the Ligue 1 side is quite literally all in on trying to win the Champions League next spring. With Lionel Messi now in town, PSG has a great shot of winning it all. The board knows that with Mbappe still in the fold, their chances are only stronger. Mbappe will close out the year with PSG, but as soon as he’s able to sign elsewhere, it’d be a stunner if he doesn’t end up in La Liga with Real Madrid.
