The Washington Football Team will host the New York Giants for Week 2’s Thursday night matchup.
Taylor Heinicke will make his first start of the season with the Washington Football Team in an NFC East contest against the New York Giants. With Ryan Fitzpatrick on IR due to a hip injury, Heinicke has a chance to prove himself against a Giants team that is power ranked at just 29.
New York will be battling their own injuries. Running back Saquon Barkley was officially listed as questionable due to a sore knee, and tight end Evan Engram won’t suit up at all because of a calf injury. Having a banged up offense is the last thing the 0-1 Giants need after a 27-13 loss to Denver in Week 1. If there is any time for quarterback Daniel Jones to rally his offense and grit out a win against a big opponent, it is tonight.
Washington is also looking to improve to 1-1 following a 20-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. With Heinicke coming in to replace Fitzpatrick, it could be a big game for running back Antonio Gibson who totaled 108 yards last week. They’ll also need Chase Young and the defense to step up and take advantage of New York’s depleted offense.
