CeeDee Lamb and Ezekiel Elliott almost combined for insane Cowboys touchdown to end half

The Dallas Cowboys took a field-goal lead into half-time, but it CeeDee Lamb and Ezekiel Elliott almost extended it in stunning fashion.

The Dallas Cowboys took a 14-11 lead into halftime against the Los Angeles Chargers, but their advantage almost grew in spectacular fashion as they came close to pulling off a miracle play at the end of the second quarter.

In the final seconds of the half at SoFi Stadium, Dak Prescott escaped the pocket and rolled to his left before connecting with CeeDee Lamb on a short pass. Lamb made one defender miss with a slick spin move before juking past another and breaking into the open field.

With one defender ahead of him, Lamb pitched the ball to Ezekiel Elliott at the 18-yard line, but the Cowboys’ running back was denied what would surely have been one the most memorable touchdowns of his career as he was forced out at the three-yard line by Chargers safety Derwin James.

Had the Cowboys pulled it off, it would have been near the top of every Sunday night highlight reel and, more importantly, it would have given them a 10-point lead, potentially crucial breathing room against a Chargers team blessed with plenty of offensive firepower.

As it was, the Cowboys had to be content with a field-goal lead, still an impressive achievement given the caliber of quarterback Dallas is facing in Justin Herbert, especially given it is missing a key piece in defensive end Demarcus Lawrence.

The miracle play that never was served as a demonstration of just how exciting Dallas’ stacked offense can be when it is firing on all cylinders.

Yet if the Cowboys prove unable to hang on to their slender lead and drop to 0-2, they may look back on James’ force out of Elliott with time expired in the first half as a turning point that flipped a fascinating contest against them.
