On Sunday evening, Dak Prescott leads the Dallas Cowboys to faceoff against Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers in a Week 2 matchup.
The Chargers scrapped to a win in Week 1 against The Washington Football Team but look to hopefully have an easier ride to a win against Dallas.
What to watch for in the Cowboys-Chargers matchup
Before throwing three touchdowns and an interception and 403 yards on 58 attempts in last week’s season opener, Dak Prescott had not played a game in nearly 11 months as he recovered from ankle and shoulder injuries. While the Cowboys lost to the Bucs, it was refreshing to see that their field general was back to his ways as a passer.
The Cowboys, however, should not remain dependent on Dak alone and should instead look to commit to some sort of running game behind Ezekiel Elliot, who only had 33 yards on 11 carries in Week 1.
Last week, Chargers’ second-year quarterback Justin Herbert became the second quarterback in league history to throw for 4,500 yards in his first 16 career games when he threw for 337 yards. Herbert led Los Angeles to the win but it wasn’t clean by any means: He threw for only one score, but both an interception and weird fumble in the red zone.
Despite the blemishes, he led the offense to 14-of-19 third-down attempts. Herbert should find similar success against the Cowboys’ defense.
