Oklahoma football: Skip Bayless has harsh reaction to Spencer Rattler getting benched
Skip Bayless is frustrated with the performance of the Oklahoma Sooners and expressed disappointment on the benching of Spencer Rattler.
If you haven’t known by now, Fox Sports 1 analyst Skip Bayless is a die-hard Oklahoma Sooners fan and has high regard for quarterback Spencer Rattler. Now, it seems the tables have been turned.
Amid a dreadful performance against Texas in the annual Red River showdown, Rattler was benched in favor of backup quarterback Caleb Williams.
Bayless, as expected, offered his thoughts.

Bayless isn’t wrong.
Rattler came into this season looking like the potential No.1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. That now has gone completely off the rails as Rattler has struggled significantly in the last few games.
Up until a game-winning drive against West Virginia, Rattler looked rattled by the Mountaineers, who aren’t ranked. Against the Longhorns, things only got worse from the opening play, including Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy’s touchdown on the first play that set the tone.
Let it be made very clear; Rattler can play football. That’s never been the knock. But being the top overall pick? Pump the brakes.
Sure, the Sooners recently produced two Heisman trophy-winning quarterbacks in Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray, but that doesn’t automatically mean that Rattler will follow in their footsteps.
Maybe the hype was a bit too much?
So far, it looks that way, and it’s unfortunate because Rattler is a talented player and has tools that show he can play the position, but right now, he’s been sitting on the bench
Moreover, it doesn’t take someone like Bayless to point out that the Sooners, though ranked high, have struggled mightily.
