Oklahoma benched Spencer Rattler after a shaky first quarter vs. Texas and Caleb Williams scored on his first play.

Oklahoma fell behind Texas in a big way in the first quarter, trailing 28-7.

Spencer Rattler threw an interception on a bad read and grabbed some bench to start the second quarter. Oklahoma fans have been disappointed with Rattler this season and have been vocal about wanting to see freshman Caleb Williams.

They got their wish.

Williams replaced Rattler on a 4th down play to start the second quarter and scampered 66 yards for a touchdown.

Whether this was a permanent move or not will be played out the rest of the game. If nothing else, Williams showed Lincoln Riley he can be trusted to run the offense should he bench Rattler.

And if Rattler doesn’t lead a comeback against Texas, Williams may at least get some more reps with a playoff berth out the window.
