Another blown lead by the Texas football program may have cost them Arch Manning.
Of course, Arch Manning was in attendance to see Steve Sarkisianās Texas football team blow another lead in heartbreaking fashion.
No. 25 Texas falls to 4-3 after collapsing to the undefeated No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys, 32-24. While Mike Gundyās program has had Texasā number for some time, the Longhorns cannot feel great about their chances of landing Manning after this. Of the five teams Manning is seriously considering, Texas was seen as the slight favorite. That could be changing after this awful loss.
Texasā misfortunes keep the door open for the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Ole Miss to potentially land Manning in 2023.
Arch Manning recruitment: Texas football loses in front of top 2023 recruit
Thus far, Manning has visiting Georgia, Alabama and Texas for games. While we cannot cross off any of these five teams he is considering like we can with LSU because of head coach Ed Orgeron, there is no away around it. This hurts Texasā chances of landing Manning considerably. Though the Longhorns will be in the SEC by the time he arrives on campus, is this really the best spot for him?
Though Manning still may be infatuated with Texas, he has to make a smart business decision when it comes to picking what school he should go to. While Ole Miss is his familyās collegiate homestead, Texas is the only other program of note on his list that are playoff pretenders. Even if the Texas loss helps Ole Missā case, it adds even more fire to Alabama, Clemson and Georgiaās, too.
In what could have been a perfect weekend in Austin, the Longhorns blew it in front of Manning.
