Steve Sarkisian will watch Arch Manning in-person two days before the 2023 five-star quarterback makes his visit to Texas on Saturday.

This week is an important one for Texas and its pursuit of Arch Manning.

Per Chad Simmons of On3, Texas football head coach will watch Manning in-person on Thursday night two days before the 2023 five-star quarterback prospect makes his official visit to Austin.

This will be Isidore Newman’s only Thursday night game of the season, so this lines up perfectly for Sarkisian to make the trek to New Orleans to watch the third generation of Manning passers do his thing.

While it is still early in his recruiting process, Texas is considered to be the slight leader for his commitment. He is also considering Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Ole Miss.

Texas has a huge home game vs. the undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday afternoon.

Arch Manning recruitment: 5-star QB to visit Texas football program on Saturday

Though any of these five schools could realistically end up procuring Manning’s five-star commitment, it seems as though the in-state LSU Tigers are out of it as long as Ed Orgeron remains their head coach. This could lead to LSU athletic director Scott Woodward making a change at the helm, but there are not a robust group of candidates to best replace Orgeron.

Thus far, Manning has already visited Georgia and Alabama. He plans to visit Clemson and Ole Miss later in October. While Ole Miss may have the ultimate familial trump card, Manning does seem to have a strong connection with Sarkisian. Frankly, the best thing the ‘Horns can do right now is take care of business and beat the Pokes at home. Otherwise, that’s three losses for them.

Texas might be the apple of Manning’s eye, but if they get wrangled by Oklahoma State, he might bail on them for greener pastures.
