MLB rumors: Besides Dodgers, who’s most likely to sign Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer?

As the Los Angeles Dodgers continue in the NLCS, rumors swirl as to whether they’ll retain Max Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw. 

The Dodgers are rather preoccupied with staying in the Championship Series, but there are already questions as to whether they will retain some of their biggest stars in the upcoming offseason.

Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager reportedly isn’t concerned at the moment with where he will be next year, despite winning the MVP with L.A. in the 2020 World Series. Instead, Seager is focused on finishing the series at hand, as are teammates Max Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Dodgers remain favorites to sign Scherzer and Kershaw in the impending offseason. But if the Dodgers miss out on resigning these two, Heyman has ideas as to where they might end up instead.

Angels could sign Scherzer; Kershaw could get signed by Rangers

FanSided reported in September that Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout was recruiting Scherzer to come and play for L.A.’s other baseball team.

It wouldn’t be unlikely for Scherzer to consider the Angels, as he has several connections to their current roster.

“Outfielder Justin Upton was a rookie with the Arizona Diamondbacks alongside Scherzer, and Rendon was a teammate of Scherzer’s in Washington for multiple seasons,” wrote FanSided’s Brad Berreman.

Earlier in February, Kershaw told the Los Angeles Times that he was uncertain about his future in Los Angeles.

“I don’t know,” Kershaw said. “Honestly, I wish I had an answer.”

Kershaw has remained with the team since then, but the idea persists that Kershaw could come back as a “hometown pick” for the Texas Rangers.

If Scherzer and Kershaw don’t begin next season with the Dodgers, Heyman seems to have a pulse on exactly where the star L.A. players will end up.
