Pitt football star Kenny Pickett is projecting as a franchise quarterback worth drafting in 2022.

As long as the Pittsburgh Panthers keep winning games, star quarterback Kenny Pickett will ascend up many NFL teams’ draft boards.

Despite a bad non-conference loss to the Western Michigan Broncos, Pitt is arguably the best team in the ACC at the halfway point. Much of this has to do with the brilliant quarterback play of Pickett. He is a seasoned veteran on Pat Narduzzi’s team and offers many of the traits a prospective NFL team would love to build their franchise around. Pickett should be a top-32 pick.

Though it is still insanely early in the process, here are seven teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, that would make a ton of sense for Pickett to be drafted to next spring.

Kenny Pickett NFL Draft: Pittsburgh Steelers among 7 teams who could draft him

7. player. Pick Analysis. NFC. North. 50. Scouting Report. Detroit Lions

Jared Goff is not the answer, but the Detroit Lions have so many other problems

The last winless team in the NFL is Dan Campbell’s Detroit Lions. While they play hard for their rookie head coach, this team is very much devoid of talent. Though Jared Goff has been lackluster at best this season, the Lions may want to draft an impact defensive player over an emerging quarterback prospect like Pickett. It is possible, but the Lions are not taking him No. 1 overall.

31. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. New York Giants. 6. player. NFC. East

The Daniel Jones era may be over, but the New York Giants have so many issues

As with the Lions, the New York Giants are one of the worst teams in the NFL. While ownership may be committed to head coach Joe Judge, it is becoming crystal clear that Daniel Jones is not the answer under center for them. Even if that is the case, the Giants are too devoid of talent for them to realistically reach on a quarterback like Pickett inside of the top three. It could happen, though.

54. Scouting Report. NFC. East. 5. player. Pick Analysis. Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles may be interested, but they have other quarterbacks

Though it would be cool to see Pickett stay in-state, the Philadelphia Eagles may need another year to seriously see what they have at quarterback in Jalen Hurts or possibly Gardner Minshew. Pickett could be the better pro prospect of the three, but until the Eagles can definitively peal off Hurts and Minshew, head coach Nick Sirianni needs to be 100 percent sure in what he already has.

While Pickett could go to these three teams, there are four better landing spots for him in 2022.
