When it comes to finding a replacement for Ben Roethlisberger, the Pittsburgh Steelers don’t need to look any further than Pitt’s Kenny Pickett.

The Pittsburgh Steelers scouts should be paying extra attention to quarterback play this college football season. They’re probably going to end up picking one of them in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Ben Roethlisberger is going to need replacing.

The good news? There’s a clear candidate emerging.

Steelers should draft Kenny Pickett as Ben Roethlisberger’s replacement

Kenny Pickett is having an outstanding season for Pitt in 2021, one that few people actually saw coming entering the year. In fact, he’s putting up numbers on the level with Joe Burrow.

Through five games in 2021, Pickett had 19 touchdowns and just one interception. He averaged 346.2 yards per game and maintained a passer rating of 194.7.

He added two more passing touchdowns to his tally in the first half against Virginia Tech along with one on the ground.

He has a big enough arm for the pros while displaying exceptional deep-ball accuracy. He’s cool and calm in the pocket, protecting the football with good decision-making. He’s mobile.

The Steelers will have plenty of time to evaluate their options when it comes to quarterbacks for next season, but Pickett should absolutely be on the radar. Everyone else will be looking at him too. That’s the biggest problem.
